Meeting Notes

Welcome from the Cincinnati NIRI Chapter President

Welcome to the Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI). Our chapter kicked off its 2010-2011 program year yesterday. John Siemann, Partner with Phoenix Advisory Services, LLC, offered an engaging overview of the changes to the proxy process, covering such topics as implications of Dodd Frank and recent SEC actions that every IRO should be familiar with. Notes from the meeting will be made available soon on our chapter website: http://www.niri-cincinnati.com.

I hope to see you at our next event, a dinner on Tuesday, November 9th. Patti Wood, a nationally acclaimed speaker on the topic of non-verbal communication will lead us in an overview entitled: "What You Aren’t Saying: What You Should Know About Non-Verbal Communications and Body Language". This will be an interactive workshop offered exclusively to NIRI members, friends and their guests. We are delighted to be able to offer this a high caliber training opportunity at an affordable price (dinner included!). Watch for more details in the next week.

Our board recognizes the value of providing quality IR education and networking opportunities – look for details in event communications from the chapter. Our local NIRI events include education on various topics aimed at increasing investor relations knowledge and effectiveness. We encourage members to build relationships that promote collaboration and professional networking, in part through social aspects of chapter events.

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Adam Booher to NIRI’s Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter Board. Adam will fill the mid-term vacancy left by Shannon Gaycheck. Shannon has faithfully served our chapter for many years in a variety of roles. We will miss her and wish her well as she begins a career outside the world of investor relations. We are delighted that Adam will be joining us in the role of Communications Chairperson.

My participation at a recent NIRI Leadership Conference provided lots of great ideas and thoughts that will be shared at future chapter events. During this meeting, we learned we did not win the bid to host NIRI’s National Board for their March 2011 board meeting, but were told it was a tough decision and we intend to bid again in the future. We are also looking to partner with the Central Ohio (Columbus) Chapter on selected events. I look forward to discussing all of these ideas and other chapter developments soon.

The next several months are going to be an exciting for our chapter and your participation will be worth the time and effort!

Sincerely,

Diane Weidner, President
